Shadow Minister Joins Villagers to Save Post Office

Residents fight Post Office Closures Charles Hendry MP, Shadow Minister for Energy and Postal Services, today visited Glasson Dock Post Office with Eric Ollerenshaw, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Lancaster and Fleetwood.

The Shadow Minister was met by Councillor Susie Charles, Mayor Helen Helme, and Conservative Representative for Lancaster Central, Tom Currie.

Over 40 local villagers turned out to meet Mr Hendry and to show their support for the local Post Office.

Charles said: “I am pleased to be here to join with villagers and underline that people have only until the 3rd March to get their objections in to prevent the closure of this vital sub Post Office.

Eric Ollerenshaw said: “It is great that Charles could join us in trying to stop this further blow to rural life by Gordon Brown”.

The Conservative campaign to save Lancaster’s Post Offices has so far attracted over 800 signatures.
