For 11 years Labour have left Fleetwood and the surrounding areas in decline and its potential for development too quickly shelved.

Last week at the Conservative Party Conference David Cameron outlined key policies for a new Conservative Government that would give power back to towns like Fleetwood, to kick start the development of a prosperous, safe and vibrant community.
Mr. Cameron, who at the request of Eric Ollerenshaw (Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Lancaster and Fleetwood) visited Fleetwood earlier this year, showed again that a new Conservative Government would understand the difficulties faced by towns like Fleetwood. Policies to tackle Crime and Anti Social Behaviour, Elderly Care and the Economy were announced, including:
- Crime – scrap stop and search forms and cut bureaucracy to allow police officers to spend more of their time on the streets all police forces to publish crime maps and hold quarterly beat meetings enabling local communities to hold their police force to account.
- Anti Social Behavior – Higher prices on Anti Social alcohol, planned increase on alcopops that will raise the price of a large bottle by £1.50. New powers for local communities to stop late night licenses giving Fleetwood residents a right of veto over new licenses in their area
- Elderly Care – Restoration of the Earnings – Pension Link, ensuring that pensions go up in line with earnings, giving people opportunity and security in retirement.
- Economy – will freeze council tax for two years, provide tax cuts for new jobs with a £2.6bn package of tax breaks to get people into work, cut National Insurance by 1% for six months for firms with fewer than five employees and abolish Stamp Duty for nine out of ten first-time buyers.
- Fundamental Reform of the fisheries policy, to give fishing communities a secure future.
Eric Ollerenshaw, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Lancaster and Fleetwood welcomed the announcements made last week. ‘Back in May David Cameron visited Fleetwood, expressing his interest in the possibilities of a revived rail link and tidal barrage scheme and last week he reaffirmed his support to our community with policy announcements that will give the people of Fleetwood more power, responsibility and prospects for the future.
