Local Campaigns
On this page we link to our major campaigns, which are currently in the process of being updated. Please bear with us while this happens.
At the moment you can browse our ‘Pride in Primrose’ campaign, which has just been featured in the Lancaster Guardian (print edition).
Very soon we will have information regarding our ‘Keep our Post Offices Open’ and ‘Stop Canatxx - again’ campaigns.
Stop Canatxx - Again!
The American gas storage company, Canatxx, has recently announced its intention to resubmit plans to store 1.2 million tonnes of natural gas under the River Wyre.
Last year, Eric Ollerenshaw and your local Conservatives campaigned against the original proposal. Thanks to years of hard work from the community and local politicians, the Government gave a thumbs down to the storage bid.
Following the news that in September, Canatxx intends to resubmit a revised application to Lancashire County Council, we have launched our campaign to ‘Stop Canatxx - Again!
Our new campaign was kick-started at Fleetwood’s Tram Sunday where we collected almost 1,000 signatures to ‘Stop Canatxx - Again’.
We’re currently in the process of updating our new-look website. More information about Cantaxx will be up shortly and you’ll be able to sign our petition as well.
Pride in Primrose
Following complaints from local residents in the Primrose area of Lancaster, your local Conservatives are calling on the Council to take action and help clean up the area.
Petition
Miles Bennington, the Conservative Representative for Primrose, collected over 100 signatures from local residents and has challenged the Council to roll out the ‘Street Pride’ scheme and fix the broken and uneven paving slabs, unblock the gullies, remove the unsightly weeds and tackle the rubbish.
Miles said: “The ‘Street Pride’ scheme covers all the bases. It shows people that the Council cares about the local environment and it gets people to think harder about how they treat the area.”
