‘Stealth’ Attack on Lancaster’s Grammar Schools





Eric Ollerenshaw, Lancaster’s Parliamentary Candidate, has
has condemned moves by the Government to encourage an attack by stealth on Lancaster Royal Grammar School and Lancaster Girls Grammar School.

Jim Knight, the Government’s Schools Minister, has begun reviewing the system on which parents can be balloted on the future of grammar schools like LRGS and Lancaster Girls Grammar.

Eric Welcomes Delay to Academy School Decision





Eric Ollerenshaw, Lancaster and Fleetwood’s Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, has welcomed the news that the proposed new Lancaster School Academy has been put on the back-burner until 2009.

The delay to the decision on the School Academy, which would have been made up of Hornby High School, Skerton High School and Central Lancaster High School, has now focused discussions on a possible expansion of Central Lancaster High School.

Lancaster School Academy?





The Labour-run County Council has just announced it will be consulting on closing Skerton High School, Hornby High School and Central Lancaster High School.

Labour has proposed a policy that would see these three schools closed in favour of a new 900-place Academy.
