Hunt: Let’s fight Labour’s cider tax
In a blow to cider makers and responsible cider drinkers, the Labour Government have reaffirmed their plans to impose a 10% increase in tax on cider. Conservatives today launched local campaigns to challenge Labour to follow Conservatives’ plans and scrap the cider tax.
Business supports Conservative plans to stop the jobs tax
38 top employers, who employ over half a million people, have now signed a letter stating that they “welcome George Osborne’s plan to stop Labour’s increase in national insurance by cutting Government waste”, and that “… stopping the national insurance rise will protect jobs and support the recovery.”

Gordon Brown’s failure on immigration

- Immigration is up threefold since Labour came to power.
- Labour estimated that only 13,000 Eastern Europeans would arrive after joining the EU. In fact more than a million migrants from new EU states have come here since 2004.

Housebuilding in 2009 has fallen to its lowest level since 1946. With just 118,000 completions.
Home building at its lowest level since 1946
Applications to build new homes across the UK fell by 17%. Showing that the much needed recovery is yet to materialise.
